Mandisa Haarhoff’s Crush-Hopper
The Mid-Florida Chapter of the Fulbright Association is sponsoring “Crush-Hopper,” an autobiographic narrative performance by Mandisa Haarhoff, a visiting Fulbright student from South Africa. The event will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 17 at the University of South Florida’s School of Music Concert Hall.

Following the performance, a dialogue about the event with Haarhoff and larger discussion is also scheduled under the theme “Black Racial Identity Development,” led by Patrick De Walt, member of the College of Education faculty (also see interesting blog here).

I plan to attend the event and learn about Haarhoff’s opinions on post-Apartheid issues of race and identity in South Africa, what lessons she learned during the course of production, reactions she has received and what the aim and message of the performance is.
